Join Marie-Elsa Bragg, Jackie Kay and Suzanne Bonnar for an afternoon exploring where the spirit and imagination meet through poetry and acappella song.

These three women from the north will read and sing from their own work and the work of others,and share with you their varied spiritual, sacred and secular beliefs.

Suzanne Bonnar, born in Dunoon, is a Scottish based jazz singer and actress. Amongst her acclaimed theatrical performances are the life story of Billie Holiday, I Cover the Waterfront and Every Bit of it, the life of Bessie Smith, written by Jackie Kay.

Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh to a Scottish mother and a Nigerian father. She was adopted as a baby and brought up in Scotland by a white Scottish couple. She was made the Scottish Makar (Poet Laureate) in 2016. She is Chancellor of the University of Salford and Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University.

Marie-Elsa Bragg is half Cumbrian and half French and was brought up in London and Cumbria. She is a priest in London, an Ignatian spiritual director, and a Duty Chaplain of Westminster Abbey. Her first novel, Towards Mellbreak , described as a hymn to the Cumbrian landscape, was published in 2017.
